The so-called  "Black American . . . has . . . a strong, hereditary cultural unity, born of slavery, of common suffering, prolonged proscription and curtailment of political and civil rights; and especially because of economic and social disabilities. Largely from this fact, have arisen the cultural gifts to America—their rhythm, music and folk-song; their religious faith and customs; their contribution to American art and literature; their defense of their country in every war, on land, sea and in the air; and especially the hard, continuous toil upon which the prosperity and wealth of this continent has largely been built. . . .

Wright Charter School in New Orleans after a senior prank water fight. In addition to being suspended, these students have had all senior privileges revoked, including: walking for graduation, senior prom, senior picnic, and their last day of school. Sophie B. Wright also threatened them with civil and legal action. Our Voice Nuestra Voz (OVNV) began working with parents quickly and discovered that the disciplinary punishment...
